Set a default format for a field
Some fields, especially those that contain numbers, are easier to read when you apply formatting. In this movie, I will show you how to save time by assigning a default format to a field. My sample file is 09_03_Default format, and you can find it in the Chapter_09 folder of the Exercise Files collection. In this workbook, I have a worksheet that summarizes sales by product category, and the values here are fairly easy to read, but it might not be obvious that they represent sales, so I can put a dollar value on them by assigning a currency format. I'll start by going over to the sidebar and clicking the order Total Pills down arrow. From there I will point to Default Properties and click Number Format. The default number format dialog box appears, and I have a number of different options. In this case, I'll just click Currency Standard. And I can also select my locale English for the US and a lot of others. So I'll stay with English us because that's where I am. So that's all I want…
