When you create a chart or other visualization in Tableau, the program applies this built in formatting to your creation. As with most every other aspect of a Tableau viz, you can format your charts elements to emphasize particular aspects of your data or just provide the appearance that you want. And in this movie, I will introduce some of the techniques you can use. My sample file is 10_02_Format chart, and you can find it in the Chapter_10 folder of the Exercise Files collection. In this workbook, I have a line chart that shows sales by month. And let's say that I want to change the color and appearance of the line itself. So I will click the line, and then go over to the Marx card, and I'll start by clicking the color square. So I can change the color of the line, and you can see that it is currently blue.
