- [Instructor] One way to analyze data is to determine the relative rank of each value within a data set. A percentile rank, which indicates the percentile values of the range that are above and below the value you're examining provides useful insights into specific values and the range as a whole. In this movie, I will show you how to calculate the value that is the cutoff for a given percentile. My sample file is the percentile workbook, and you can find it in the Chapter02 folder of your exercise files collection. This workbook contains a straight forward visualization, and it shows the average total cost of orders for five product categories. I'd like to calculate the cutoff value for percentiles. For example, if I wanted to find the value for furnishings orders at which 70% of the orders would be below the value, and 30% above, then I could calculate the 70th percentile value.
