The "blue ocean" method
- Have you ever swam in shark infested waters? It's a scary feeling, right? Well, that's what it's like when you go to a place where your skillset is saturated. To avoid that and really become a super connector, what I recommend is something called the Blue Ocean Theory. In this theory, you go to areas where your skillset is not saturated. So for example, if you're a marketing expert, if you go to the marketing expo, you're not going to make a splash. It's going to be very difficult. Instead, go to the builder expo or perhaps the toy expo. In those environments, your skillset stands out from the rest of the people there. Now that does two important things. One, it gives you the time, the time to go deeper in your connections with the people that you meet.
