- The number one fear in America besides death, is public speaking. I'm here have to tell you that the number one thing you can do to enhance your capabilities as a superconnector is improve your ability to public speak. When I was 18 years old, I had the opportunity to speak in front of 2,000 people at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. It was for an organization called Facing History in Ourselves. Now I had six weeks of coaching from a professional speaking coach, and it was intense. I wrote a five minute speech and I memorized it, word for word. I prepared, I practiced. The day of the event, I was ready but I was extremely nervous. I was the third of three speakers. And when I began to speak, I noticed something.
