- Every string cleaning operation should have a purpose, like company name normalization or removing symbols and signs. In this course, our purpose for string cleaning is to make sure that the earth is safe from intergalactic hooligans. I'm fortunate to be on the elite extraterrestrial data wrangling team and we've been given exclusive access to a unique data set that includes information about rogue space beings. You are the next members of our elite squad. Welcome to the team, and I hope you're up to the challenge. Before we dive into some cleaning, there are a few things that will be helpful to have. First, you'll need to have some familiarity with Pandas. You certainly don't need to be a master, but should be comfortable reading data and doing some basic data wrangling tasks.
