- What words would you use to describe an effective leader? Are they a good listener? Supportive and empathetic? Do they care about your development and growth? Now what if I asked you to choose an image of an effective leader. Research shows that you would most likely choose an image of a man. Despite using stereotypically feminine attributes to describe an ideal leader, good listener, supportive, empathetic, most people still subconsciously associate leaders and leadership, with men. In this lesson, I'll share these gender biases about leadership, to help you see yourself, not only as a leader but as an effective one. At the highest levels of our organizations, men outnumber women, four to one, in leadership roles.
