Taking the iconic portrait of a ringmaster
- When I found out that Bones was a ringmaster, it was almost too perfect. It's like when you tell the universe you want something and it comes back to you, it's true. It makes me really excited. I knew that I wanted this picture of a ringmaster and through a serendipitous course of events, I found one. So, asking him to come up to Fort Bragg so I could take his pictures; this was the highlight of my day. So, when he showed up, I'd had kind of a grueling day of taking lots of portraits. I was having fun. I was doing what I loved doing, but it was a very high paced day, moving very quickly with subjects. So, when Bones came in that tent, it was a breath of fresh air creatively. It was like this this is one of the pictures I've been waiting to get for years. To have the opportunity to photograph a circus, but also get the picture that I want of a ringmaster in the tent.
