From the course: Stakeholder Whispering: Uncovering Real Needs for Better-Aligned Strategy

The importance of stakeholder management

(soft music) - When your boss asks you to do something, do you just do it? Should you just do it? Are you just an order-taker or is there something more that you maybe could and should be doing when you're assigned tasks? Your job is not to just be fingers on a keyboard, not just execute on what you've been asked to do, but to do the thing that needs doing, to do the work that is required in order to push your organization ahead. That's what we're here to talk about in this course. How do you actually figure out what is actually needed, and you're going to work on that, rather than what you were asked to do. And by the way, sometimes what you're asked to do may be exactly what's needed, that's fine, but sometimes it isn't. Often it isn't, and I want to help you figure out how to recognize when it isn't, or maybe more so figure out what's really needed and work on that instead.
