- [Instructor] When you're creating geometry, one of the fundamental rules is we need to create a sketch on a face or a plane. So we've got our three fundamental planes here and we have all these individual faces of our part here, but what if we want to put in maybe a hole or something like that at a weird angle, right? Well, we don't have a plane on that weird angles. We have to go ahead and create that. So let me show you how to do that. So first, come up here to Features. Come over here to Reference Geometry. And the first thing in that list is Plane. So choose the Plane and it's looking for some references, right? So the way that references work is the more powerful the reference that you select, the fewer of them that you're actually going to need. So something like a plane or a face, you pretty much only need one reference, but if you give something like a point, you're going to need probably three references, right?
