Slice tool

- [Instructor] New for SolidWorks 2019 is the ability to import a mesh model, like an STL file, and then add slices that we can then turn into a solid body. Let me show you how it works. Let's go over here and open up a file. Right over here I'm in 8.17 and I'm opening this file here which is 8.17.stl. That's a stereolithography file. Click on open. And that brings it in. Over here you can see it's called graphic one. If you click on the twirl-down you can see it say close graphic one. But there's no real geometry here. I can choose the outside surface, but I can't do much with it in this state. Cause it's a mesh model. So what I'd like to do is turn that into a real, SolidWorks parametric model. So first thing I want to do is I want to change the color. Let's change it to red. And there he is. All right. Now we need a starting plane, so right here at the bottom of the part is the top plane. So let's go ahead and show that one so we can easily see it. So we'll start there. Now we're…
