From posting jobs to finding an apartment, the site was very popular until it fell out of favor, as many of its offerings were better addressed by other companies catering to the nuances of a specific vertical. Like how it's more effective today to search for jobs on Indeed, or look for real estate on a platform like Zillow, all of which were services that have been unbundled from Craigslist. Unbundling can happen to any platform or marketplace with a broad range of use cases, or that covers a wide variety of topics. It doesn't mean these sites will cease to exist as they unbundle, but they're definitely a helpful testing ground for others to understand the viability of a company or even a new social platform.
