- People trust recommendations more than ads. Whether reading a product review posted by another customer or an answer to an important question, consumers often trust the collective wisdom of other people over companies. That's why review sites and discussion forums are go-to social channels for many as a way of crowdsourcing information to inform purchasing decisions and up-level their knowledge. Let's begin with review sites which are channels where either reviews are listed on their platform as one of their many offerings or their primary purpose is to feature reviews. For instance, Yelp is a review site for restaurants and local businesses. TripAdvisor showcases reviews for travel experiences like hotels and excursions, and G2 aggregates user reviews for business software, compared to Google Business Profile, OpenTable, Amazon and Facebook that provide a wide range of services, including allowing people to post reviews…
