Animating an image
- Social media platforms are prioritizing video over still images. If you're not always posting videos, I want you to consider animating your photos. It takes hardly any time at all, and animating photos makes them more dynamic and interesting to look at. And they're also exported as an MP4, so they'll be seen more because they're actually a video file. In this video, I am going to create a post for a cooking class. Let's dive right in. Okay, so let's get started. Here I am in Adobe Express. In the template search bar, type "promo". Select a template that you like. I found that choosing templates that feature a light amount of text, a few shapes, and even a full bleed image do best as animated posts. I'll select this one and this window opens where I can edit it. Now, even though I'm choosing a template for an online fitness class, I'm going to change all of the assets to fit my needs. It's really efficient to use the replace button instead of manually adding a photo because when you use Replace, the effects, sizing, and cropping from the template will be applied automatically. So when the Photo tab opens, you have the option to search and select a stock image or upload your own image. I need a photo of someone cooking, so I'll search for cooking and select a photo from the Adobe Stock Library. Oh no, she's being blocked by the text, so I need to adjust the framing. So to fix this, I'll toggle the Add to Background to lock the image in the background layer. From there, I can click and drag the background image until the photo is framed correctly. Alright, so now we are going to move on to edit the text. So you'll select the text to change what it says. In this template, all of the text elements are grouped. So if I only want to change one element, I need to click Ungroup so that I can manually edit the text without affecting other elements. So now in the Edit Text panel, I can type the text I want to see. I want the text to be a little bigger, so I'll resize the text by dragging in the corner notches. I can also reposition the text by clicking and dragging the text. So now that all of the elements are in place, it's time to add in animation. Select the Animation tab to get started. From here, you can either select a photo animation or a text animation. You can't do both, just one or the other. I want my text to type out, so I'll select the Text Animation Typewriter. As soon as I select it, the animation is applied and I can see a preview. If you want to make more adjustments, you can pause the animation preview by pressing the Pause button in the bottom left corner. So that's it. The next step is to download your project. Click the download button on the top right corner, select MP4 and your download will begin. I love posting animations because they're more interesting to look at than static images. I always see better results, more views, more likes when I post an animated image. So give it a shot and let me know if they work for you too.
