- [Instructor] Upon starting SketchUp for the first time, the program will allow you to choose a default template. The template you choose depends on your purposes for using SketchUp, and this template will affect the background color, edge style, and type of measurement system, such as meters versus inches. To choose a default template, click on the heart underneath the thumbnail. Now each time you open a new file, this template will be activated. You can explore each template or you can click on More Templates for even more options. For now, we're going to select template Simple Inches. Click on the thumbnail to open a new file. If you'd like to change your default template, you can always go to Help, Welcome to SketchUp, and then More Templates to view more templates.
