- When you're skilled at cultural agility, you can use your perspective taking to predict how others are seeing or sensing a situation. There are a few ways we can all improve our perspective taking. The first is to know yourself, especially your own values, because that's what you use to form subjective judgements. Think about a few of your personal values, say, your work ethic, your punctuality, or your style. You weren't born with these, where did they come from? If you're like most people, they were socialized, starting from birth. Parents and caregivers are often our first and most powerful socializing agents. Other groups socialize us too, maybe it was the schools you attended, organizations where you worked, your faith community, the sports you play, the list goes on.
