Service Level Objectives. SLOs are a key component of SRE. So let's define what an SLO is. Service Level Objective, also known as SLO, is a specific goal that outlines the desired reliability of a system. It is a target that SRE strives to meet or exceed to ensure a system's performance aligns with user expectations. I know that's a long definition, but it covers many important aspects of what reliability is in general. The keyword here is a specific goal. You need to have a target. Service Level Objective needs to be associated with a number target. And the other keyword here is user expectation. You simply do not want to have an SLO for having SLO's sake.
