- So this is a little bonus chapter. This is unrelated to the ice sculpture event but at the same time what I'm getting ready to show you is still an event course necessarily 'cause it's an event that I took advantage of. I'm up here in Alaska and one of the things that a lot of photographers travel to Alaska for, is the aurora. People get really excited about aurora. The hotel that I've been staying at has bus loads of tourists coming over from Japan for the one reason, just to photograph the aurora, so I felt like when I got the opportunity to do so, I should take advantage of it. In the course of shooting the ice sculpture competition, I met a lot of great people here in Alaska, and one of those people was a guy named Greg who out of the blue offered to let me travel to his cabin up in a mountain above Fairbanks, where he turned on the heat for me and said if you ever want to come shoot the aurora, you should come do it here, it's a great spot.
