The anatomy of a link
- [Instructor] Not at all links are created equal. Some will carry more value than others, and there are likely to be many ways that Google will determine that value. Before looking at what they may look at, first let's look at the technical anatomy of a link; what it looks like behind the scenes. This is a typical link as it's seen when you look at HTML. Here is the opening of the tag. The A stands for anchor, and when combined with HREF, which means hypertext references, it creates a hyperlink to other webpages, files, or email addresses. Next, we have the target of the link, in this case, a URL for the Aira homepage. Then we have what's called the anchor text, which is what a normal user sees in their browser, in this case, the word Aira. And finally, we have the closing HTML tag, to signal the end of the markup.
