Nmap
- [Instructor] Nmap, short for Network Mapper, is a fantastic tool for identifying systems on a network. You can download Nmap from nmap.org. If you're on a Windows machine, you can navigate to the Zenmap download for a GUI-based version of the tool. The reason I start with Kali is that the command line version of Nmap is one of the tools installed by default. No extra steps required. Just open your Kali VM, open a command prompt, type nmap, and you're ready to go. Nmap is one of those tools that takes a moment to learn and a lifetime to master. Fortunately, there are a lot of resources you can tap into to help accelerate your learning. One of my favorites is the Nmap Cheat Sheet available at highon.coffee. It's full of useful, practical Nmap commands that you'll use time and time again throughout your career. Definitely worth bookmarking. We'll go into a more detailed demo of Nmap later in this course.
