Let's explore the SAP Quality Management, or QM, module. As the name indicates, this module deals with ensuring quality through different areas of our company's processes. The functions of quality management now fit in what SAP calls the manufacturing line of business. Three major areas of the quality management module are quality planning, quality inspection, and quality control. Quality management helps us analyze both materials procured from suppliers and the materials we manufacture that will be sent to customers. Let's take a look at each of these areas. Quality planning is where we configure how we want to measure the quality of an item. We create inspection plans that determine which characteristics to analyze and which equipment will be used to measure the quality of our materials.
