- Who loves cold calling? No one. That's who. Sometimes though it might be necessary, and there are ways that you can make this activity more enjoyable and more successful. If you are going to do some cold calls, then you must be specific with whom you'd like to contact. Cold calling should be a quality activity, not a quantity activity. Don't just contact any human with a heartbeat. Contact the right kinds of people that you would really like to work with. Then have a short, but clear script handy for you to follow. You could try the one that I use, which goes something like this. "Hi there, Vishnu. This is Julia Ewert. I realize you weren't expecting my call this morning. However, would you be against me taking one minute to share with you why I did call and then you can see if it makes sense for us to speak further?"
