Creating a mechanical VAV
- [Instructor] Okay, let's make a mechanical VAV. This is a long one, so let's just jump right into it In Revit, under FAMILIES, go New. Scroll down until you find Generic Model. Click Open. On the Properties Panel, go to Family Category and Parameters. Make it Mechanical Equipment. Make it Work Plane-Based, and scroll down to Maintain Annotation Orientation and turn that on as well and click OK. Okay, make your reference planes. Right-click on this reference plane and Create Similar. On the Draw panel, click Pick Lines. Let's offset two feet to the left, to the right, up, and then down. Hit Escape a few times. On the Measure panel, click Aligned Dimension. Pick these verticals. Pick a point off. Equally constrain them. Put an overall dimension in. Do the same for the horizontal. Equally constrain it. Put a dimension in. Select the four-foot dimension. Click Create the Parameter. Call it Length. Click OK. For the four-foot, Create Parameter. Call it Width. Click OK. Now let's go to…
