- Here's where Revit starts separating itself from Auto CAD. The ability to link models is no big deal, we can do that to CAD MEP, but the ability to specifically copy and monitor items from that model is a big deal. For example, once we link an architectural model, we'd love to have the different levels or elevations that the architect has set for each floor. In Revit we can do that, but we can go a step farther. We can actually bring those floor levels into our model. Not only that, but we can do it in such a way that if the architect moves or renames floor level, we'll get a coordination alert telling us something's up. So open up Revit. No go to project open. I'm gonna browse where I'm keeping my exercise files, and I'll grab my file called 0102 monitor. Of course, if you're working on your own project, you can grab any model you'd like. Click open.
