Plan the requirements conversation
- Fail to plan, plan to fail. This phrase purposely describes prepping for requirements conversations as well. We need to plan to make the best use of the time we have with stakeholders. And in requirement solicitation, you, as the requester, are the planner, including helping participants plan as well. So are you intentionally planning your meetings or just winging it? Besides the meeting purpose, the biggest part of planning is the questions you'll ask. I like to have a set of questions that are ready to guide me in the conversation. They're not a script, but rather a guide. I want a natural conversation, and I'll use my preparation as a guide to start and for when I feel like I need to get back on track. First, look back at the purpose you've defined for your conversation, as well as the information you have from the research about the participants.
