How to reset scope, schedule, and expectations
- Resetting project parameters requires a careful balance between stakeholder needs and realistic capabilities. The goal is to establish a new baseline that everyone can commit to achieving. I will never forget a CRM upgrade project that was in deep trouble and we had to act. The first thing we did was gather the team together and list out every remaining deliverable, everything from basic contract records to advance at AI chat bots. Then we run a ruthless prioritization exercise. Core features like data migration and contact management where market as essential workflow automation and dashboards were important, but could be delayed. And anything cosmetic or experimental nice to have were cut on the spot. We involved key stakeholders in every step to ensure they understood the trade-offs and supported the decisions.
