What is a change advisory board and why use it?

- The change advisory board is a group of stakeholders that the change manager brings together to advise the change authority on significant changes. The CAB is needed for significant changes because they are too complex for the change authority to make a good go/no-go decision on their own. A good decision requires the subject-matter expertise that CAB members bring. Why use a change advisory board? Because every significant change brings significant risk of downtime, security gaps, or misalignment with business needs, the risk that only getting the right subject-matter experts can mitigate. The CAB reduces risk by bringing together the right stakeholders, experts, and decision-makers to assess impact, urgency, and value. They ensure that significant changes are well-vetted, prioritized, and approved efficiently so the business moves forward securely and strategically. The result?
