- We have covered a lot of ground exploring the causes and opportunities to remedy burnout, but how do we make sure that we do all we can to avoid burnout in the future? Several people I interviewed, myself included, have experienced burnout more than once. Not very encouraging is it? Burnout is essentially when a resource, us, runs out before the work is done, and we're used to money and time having been used up during a project, but using up people is not generally considered a good business practice or personal habit. There are some key theme that show up in many, if not all, of the burnout journeys that we use to inform this course. The first is that burnout does not occur neatly. However much we may want to categorize stages of burnout so we can assess when intervention is absolutely necessary, humans don't work that way, and we may jump around from one element of burnout to another.
