What to know before watching
Although you might not be familiar with all the terms in contractual language, the overall concept of procurement management has a lot of similarities to project management. For example, you need to plan, conduct, and control, just like you would on a project. But before we get into the fundamentals of managing procurements, it'll be helpful if you have a working knowledge of project management and a basic understanding of contract lingo. I've included a handout with a list of common terms and definitions. Since this course is based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge, aka the PMBOK. You should familiarize yourself with the latest version of it. This way, you'll have a better understanding of how project procurement management fits into project management as a whole. I know this might seem overwhelming at first, but trust me, you don't need to be a project management guru to take this course. Your learning curve will be steeper the earlier you are in your project management career. Just be willing to roll up your sleeves and get comfortable with being a novice at times. And don't worry, I'll be here to help you along the way.
