- Modern projects need modern ways of managing teams in work. Let me introduce you to self-directed, also known as self-managed, teams. You may have heard of them, but have you considered integrating self-directed teams into your organization? Note that well-known companies such as AT&T, 3M, and Procter & Gamble have used them to improve productivity and motivate their teams. If it's good enough for them, it might work for you. Self-directed teams bring together members from multiple functions within an organization to collaborate towards a common goal. It might be to develop a new project or design a new process. In order for self-directed teams to work teams members have to contribute their specific expertise towards a common goal. They have to meet on a regular basis to review the status of the project and continuously improve their processes.
