- Technology is fantastic. I'm always fascinated with how new tech expands our capabilities and increases our efficiency. However, new technology can come with an unwanted partner, like an ethical trap or two. Rabbi and UK House of Lords member Jonathan Sacks said, "Technology gives us power, "but it does not and cannot tell us how to use that power." Is he ever right with that observation. Laws concerning the use of artificial intelligence chatbots are surfacing around the world as we're producing this course. AI chatbots have access to a large volume of websites and books. It draws information from these sources. So while the query you enter into an AI chatbot may be original, the output it generates are drawn from the works of others. The ethical question this surfaces is leading to a fundamental shift in how copyright law operates and a re-imagining of who or what can be classed as an author and owner of copyright.…
