- Risks are a fact of life in project management. They show up every day all over the place. Instead of dreading or trying to avoid them, I've decided to admire them. Risks present an opportunity for us to demonstrate leadership, foresight, and adaptability. In this lesson, you'll be able to identify potential risks, prioritize them, develop mitigation plans for the most pressing, and stay vigilant in monitoring their status throughout the project. So how do you identify potential risk? Start by asking your stakeholders and project participants, "What are all the ways this project could go wrong?" If people are hesitant due to office politics or fear of repercussions, consider creating an anonymous survey to encourage open and honest feedback. Once you've gathered input, record each risk in your risk registry, a centralized document where risks live and evolve as the project progresses.
