- George Santayana once said, "Those who cannot remember the past "are condemned to repeat it." This goes double for project managers. You will learn new lessons with every project you tackle. But if we document them and share them, it increases the chance that we apply those lessons to future projects. I want to share with you an approach to capturing lessons learned so that you and others in your organization can apply the lessons to future projects. You may have done surveys and captured feedback from stakeholders. Now let's talk about what to do with the different types of feedback. First, let's look at what to do with challenging feedback. Talk with your team about what caused each challenge and discuss how you could mitigate that specific challenge in the future. Could the team have improved communication, resource allocation, or processes? For each item, discuss how you could positively impact it in the future. Put action to it.
