- If you do a lot of web searches online or interact with others that are screencasting in a social media group, you'll hear two tools come up a lot. Those two companies are very different, and one of those companies is Telestream. They make a product called ScreenFlow. It's a very powerful tool that a lot of folks like. The other company is called TechSmith and they make two software tools, Snagit, which is a lower-end tool, and Camtasia, which is a higher-end tool. All of these tools are quite useful and they do take a bit of a different approach. TechSmith's tools are cross-platform, so if you work in an organization that uses both Macs and PCs, you may find yourself needing to use Camtasia or Snagit. Camtasia is a more full-service editor that has lots of controls in it, whereas Snagit is more about just capturing the content that you're going to then edit someplace else.
