- Let's start with the most obvious lesson, something I shouldn't have to say out loud, but I actually do have to say it. To present with data, you need to understand your data. Yeah. This is called data literacy, which just means the ability to think about and do stuff with data. Pretty simple, right? Do you need to be a data scientist? No. Do you need to know the math to calculate the linear regression or correlation coefficient of your data? What does that even mean, you might ask. Yeah, you don't need to know those either. There's a spectrum of data literacy and you need to be wherever on that spectrum you need to be to accomplish your tasks and communicate with your audience. If you're presenting data when you're not too worried about sharing hyper precise numbers and your audience is the general public who's mildly curious about the results, they're probably going to be happy with high level summary findings,…
