Understanding the Normal category
- The normal category is the starting point upon all other blending modes are built. It keeps the original colors and luminance of your layers intact. Applying the normal blending mode means that you are maintaining the untouched appearance of your layers. It is the baseline for all of your creative explorations. The blend modes are organized into different categories, each one of them separated in the dropdown menu by a thin line. Every line indicates a new category. The first one we'll discuss is the normal category. This category includes two blending modes, normal and dissolve. Essentially, the normal category means that the color of a pixel is unaffected by any pixel beneath it, unless of course the opacity of the pixel changes, which then allows for the underlying pixels to become visible. Normal is the default blending mode we use most of the time, unless of course we decide to change it. Now let's go ahead…
