Transfer luma or chroma using the HSL category
- The HSL category of blending modes is your conduit to manipulating the core elements of color, luminance and prominence. It's where you shape visual character. The HSL category works by using the hue, saturation, and luminosity of the clips involved to give us the resulting color. Let's start with Hue. This blending mode results in the hue of the lower layer changing to the hue of the upper layer, but leaves brightness and saturation alone. So we will see the bottom clip with a hue of the top clip. Go ahead and open sequence 5.7 Transfer Luma or Chroma using the HSL category. Move your playhead so that you can see the first set of clips. Change the blending mode of the top clip to Hue. Now you can see how the hue of the bottom is affected by the hue of the top clip. You can now change the hue value of the top clip by adjusting the ProcAmp effect, which is already applied.
