- [Instructor] There are times when we might want to take a deeper look at what's happening at the lowest level in our networks. If we think an intruder is in our network, we might want to look for them forcing their way into the systems. If we're concerned that somehow malware has got into one of our systems, we might want to look for signs that it's trying to connect to its command and control servers. Or we might just want to do a health check for unwanted network activity due to noisy system configurations. Before we start looking at a tool to do this we need to understand the basics of networking. If you're already familiar with networking you might want to skip to the next section in this module.
