- [Instructor] Perhaps you don't actually know what accessibility is, or maybe you do. Let's have a look at a few definitions. The first one is accessibility is a standard. What we're trying to do is inclusion. We don't want to exclude people. Accessibility is one way that you measure this outcome. There are two key accessibility standards that most people reference. Next, a design definition. Accessibility is the concept of whether a product or service can be used by everyone, however they encounter it. Maybe this resonates more for designers. My favorite definition comes from Sharon Rush, and it talks about how people, regardless of ability or disability, can get to or use the same information and function. Disability should not be punished by a lack of access. We want disabled and abled people to be equitably granted access to more than just the web.
