When I first started my consulting agency, I often took a reactive approach to my client engagements. They would approach me with a problem, then I would get to work digging through the data to analyze that problem. Conducting analysis just as questions arise, is an ad hoc approach to analysis. This means you're building one-time reports to address specific questions, and there are a couple downsides to this approach.
