Utilizing scatter plots
- [Instructor] Scatter plots enable us to visualize the relationship between two numeric variables on a two dimensional plane. If we believe one variable depends on the other, then the independent variable goes on the X-axis and the dependent variable goes on the Y-axis. Population numbers are essentially roll forwards of people metrics for that particular year. If we look at any given US state in a particular year, then the population depends on the existing population from the previous year plus the number of births, minus the number of deaths, plus the net immigration to the state.
