Creating lists and bins
- [Instructor] While hierarchies let us structure data vertically, Power BI groups let us structure data more in a horizontal fashion across the values within a field. We can create groups in the form of lists or bins, for example. Power BI has a built-in functionality to create groups in a few different group types. Let's first choose the state field to add a new group to it for the West Coast states versus the rest of the US. Like creating a hierarchy, we access it through the ellipsis menu next to the field name. This opens a configuration window for creating the group. The options we see on the screen depend on the data type of the field we're creating a group for. It selects the list from the group type automatically for us. Power BI also grays out the selection so we don't have an option to create anything other than a list group for this field. The values within this state field are US state names, like Alabama…
