- [Instructor] Governance is the ability to place guardrails around resources and services we may leverage from the cloud, either single or multi-cloud. These are policies or rules that we place around resource usage. Examples of governance could be, only leveraging a cloud service at a specific window of time, such as work hours, or, not leveraging more than an allocated amount of resources, such as money for cloud usage. Given the role of governance, it's essential that this works well within all multi-cloud deployments. You'll need to track usage of thousands of resources and services, which would be impossible to do manually. There are several types of governance that you may employ, including resource governance, service governance, compliance governance, and cost governance. Resource governance, also known as infrastructure governance, is the ability to establish usage policies for cloud resources such as storage and compute.
