- [Instructor] In one of the previous chapters, we went through the Azure layers and we briefly discussed Azure Active Directory. Let's dive deeper into what Azure Active Directory is. When you sign up for a Microsoft Cloud service such as Azure or Microsoft 365, the tenant, an Azure active directory instance is created. The Azure Active Directory tenant represents your organization. Every Azure environment is built on top of an Azure active directory or Azure AD tenant. Azure AD is Microsoft's cloud-based identity and access management service. Azure AD enables your employees to access external resources such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and thousands of other SaaS applications. Azure AD also enables access to internal resources like apps on your corporate intranet network and any cloud apps developed for your organization.
