B for the right hand
From the course: Piano Lessons: Teach Yourself to Play
B for the right hand
- Here's a new note, B, for the right hand. To find this new note, place your right hand in C position. Then move your thumb one white key to the left. This B is written below the middle C ledger line in the treble staff. Now play the exercise slowly, and name the notes as you play. One, two, three, four. C, E, G, B, F, G, C, E, G, B, F, G. Right hand can also play C major and G7 chords. The new note B is used in the G7 chord for the right hand. You're ready to practice changing chords from C major to G7 and back to C. Place your right hand on the C major chord and just as before, the top note G will stay the same between the two chords. Now remember that the top interval in the C chord is a third (piano chord) and the top interval in the G7 chord is a second. (piano chord) You're going to move your right hand thumb down from C to B for the G7 chord. (piano chord) And then you'll bring it back up for the C chord. (piano chord) MaryAnn. One, two, three, four. (piano music)
