- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll introduce you to the so-called gamma value which allows you to modify the mid-tones independently of the white and black points inside of an image. All right, I'm going to go ahead and take this properties panel and move it back in here with the adjustments panel just so I can see the histogram panel at the same time. And what I want you to notice is how it's balanced, even though it starts over here with black and it ends with white and it doesn't look like we have that much clipping everything's in pretty good shape. Even though obviously we've got a lot of gaps now between our various levels, the entire mountain range of this histogram sort of leans over to the right which tells us that the image predominantly comprises very bright mid-tones and highlights. And as of course it's witnessed here inside the image window. Well what the gamma value allows us to do is modify that balance.…
