Tinting an image

- In this movie, I'll show you how to tint an image using a black and white adjustment layer. And by tint, I mean infuse the image with a little bit of color, and we'll be talking about this more in the next chapter, but here's the idea. The last thing you want to do with a black and white photograph is print it using a single ink. And that's because if you use just one ink, your shadows are going to end up looking kind of lightweight. Whereas if you print with multiple inks, then they build on top of each other to give you nice rich shadows. Another thing to think about when printing a grayscale image is that it might come out a little bit cool or somehow tinted with some other color depending on how well your printer is calibrated. So one way to ensure that you get nice rich blacks, as well as achieve a predictable color bias, is to bring out the black and white options and turn on this tint checkbox. Then, you can…
