The Curves Targeted Adjustment tool

- In this movie, I'll show you how to work with the curves targeted adjustment tool which allows you to adjust the brightness of a specific portion of the image just by dragging in it. And so assuming that your properties panel's on screen note this guy right here, that looks like a little finger dragging up and down, that is the targeted adjustment tool. And you use it, at first, just by moving your cursor inside the image window. And the reason that this is so useful I'm not dragging by the way, I'm just moving the cursor around, is because notice that bouncing ball in the bottom left corner of the properties panel that tells you the brightness of the pixel underneath your cursor. And so notice right now, my cursor is at a location that has an input of 45 and an output of 22. So it's already darker than it was originally but let's say I want to make it darker still.
