Overlay and the contrast modes

- [Instructor] In this movie, we're going to take a look at the next group of blend modes, which are the contrast modes beginning with Overlay and ending with Hard Mix. And they are as a whole the most complicated of the blend modes but I think the most interesting as well. Which is I guess my way of saying that the information in this movie is going to be coming rather fast and furious. And so the thing to bear in mind about the contrast modes is that they're all combinations of the darken and lighten modes working together. And without exception, they increase the contrast of the composite image. And so, as you may recall with the darken modes, every pixel darkens with the exception of those that are white. So in other words, white is the neutral color. With a lightened modes, every pixel brightens with the exception of black. And so black is the neutral color. With the contrast modes, 50% gray is the neutral colors…
