Multiply and the other darken modes

- [Instructor] All right, in this movie we're going to move on to the next group of Blend Modes. The one that starts with Darken and ends with Darker Color, which I would argue is the first group of true blend modes. Because from here on out, Photoshop is actually blending the colors of pixels together. And these modes, by the way, are known as the Darken modes, because the active layer darkens the ones below it. And that's true for every single pixel in the active layer with the exception of anything that is absolutely white. So darker pixels darken more than lighter pixels, but everything darkens to some extent. And I'm going to demonstrate how the Darken mode works using these images right here. We've got this model layer, and then behind him we have this parchment background. Now, the first of the Darken modes is Darken.
